About
Released in 2018 and updated through 2022, Halibut spans condensed to expanded widths on a single variable axis alongside a weight axis running from Thin to Regular. The design features large counter shapes, sharp unbracketed serifs and rounded curves, making it better suited to display and titling than continuous text. Licensed under the SIL Open Font License and available as a free download from Collletttivo.
Classification
A roman serif with oblique stress, unbracketed serifs and wide-to-narrow width axis; the sharp, spiky serifs and variable width range place it firmly in the display serif territory with a geometric edge.
