Ortica specimen from Collletttivo

A calligraphic serif in four styles split across two contrasting subfamilies, one built entirely from straight segments after Vojtech Preissig.

About

Designed by Ben Bovani and released in 2019, Ortica splits into two subfamilies: the Angular cuts, constructed solely from straight segments in the manner of Preissig Antiqua, and the Linear cuts, which use curves but retain sharp, spiky serifs. At large sizes the geometric construction is fully visible; at text sizes the family retains enough refinement for functional use. Available under the SIL Open Font Licence.

Classification

Collletttivo describe it as a calligraphic serif; the Bold subfamily is constructed entirely from straight segments inspired by Vojtech Preissig's Preissig Antiqua, while the Light subfamily uses curves with sharp, spiky serifs.
