seriflight clarendonitalic
Blanchard specimen from Commercial Type

A light clarendon for text from Commercial Classics, drawn by Paul Barnes with Tim Ripper from mid nineteenth century models that pre-figured the typewriter faces.

About

A light weight clarendon for text by Paul Barnes with Tim Ripper, released through Commercial Classics. After the typefaces of the early nineteenth century kept getting bolder, it was inevitable that some would head the other way. Blanchard is one of these: a light clarendon drawn for text from mid nineteenth century models that clearly informed the typewriter faces released later in the same century. Three weights with italics keep it functional for editorial body, captions and quieter heading use.

Classification

A light weight clarendon designed for text, revived by Paul Barnes with Tim Ripper for Commercial Classics. Drawn from mid nineteenth century models that clearly informed the later typewriter faces of the same century.
