Control Collection
Commercial Type · Christian Schwartz, Miguel Reyes

A parametric sans by Schwartz and Reyes built on Walter Kach's 1949 lettering manual, with axes for weight, contrast and apertures, plus a Letraset-flavoured Cursive.
About
A sans serif system by Christian Schwartz and Miguel Reyes based on the lettering examples in Walter Kach's 1949 manual Schriften Lettering Ecriture. Control treats the manual literally: rather than one correct form, the family offers axes for weight, contrast and apertures so designers tune the right combination per use. The Cursive draws loosely on Van Dijk's 1982 Letraset design, and the super-tight TNT cuts were developed for Interview magazine, where the family first appeared. Suits fashion, editorial and identity work that wants modernist rigour with room for high-fashion or downtown character.
