Dignitas Family
Commercial Type · Christian Schwartz, Dino Sanchez

A crisp modern take on Roman inscriptional capitals by Schwartz and Sanchez, drawing on Trajan's Column and Aldo Novarese's Nova Augustea, with a rare lowercase.
About
A display serif by Christian Schwartz and Dino Sanchez, with Jesse Vega, interpreting the classical capitals inscribed in stone across the Roman empire, exemplified by the inscription below Trajan's Column. Using Aldo Novarese's Nova Augustea as initial inspiration, the designers revisited varied sources to produce a modern reading of the genre. Unusually for a Roman capital revival, Dignitas includes a lowercase alphabet and a surprising range of stylistic variety in a small family. Suits heritage, institutional, luxury and editorial work where a classical capital voice is wanted with contemporary detail.
