Lyon Arabic
Commercial Type · Khajag Apelian, Wael Morcos

An Arabic companion to Lyon by Apelian and Morcos, pairing a Naskh upright with a Nastaliq-inspired Slanted cut for editorial and book work.
About
An Arabic companion to Kai Bernau's Lyon, designed by Khajag Apelian and Wael Morcos. The Text cut translates Naskh script characteristics into a typographic register for long passages, with simplified constructions and a robust, slightly digital feel that holds up at small sizes. The Slanted cut uses Nastaliq as a model to bring fluidity and angle for emphasis or contrast. Each axis covers Text and Display optical sizes with weights from Light to Black, and the two upright and slanted families can mix in line or set in parallel for differentiation.
Classification
Commercial Type describe Lyon Arabic as a Naskh-based companion to Kai Bernau's Lyon, with a Slanted cut drawn from Nastaliq for textural contrast, designed by Khajag Apelian and Wael Morcos.
