About
Conceived after David Jonathan Ross encountered thick-and-thin commercial lettering on mill buildings in Lowell, Massachusetts, Condor merges that plain stressed structure with the elegance of Art Deco design. Sixty static styles span five widths from Compressed to Extended and six weights from Extra Light to Black, each with matching italics that use an extreme angle rather than cursive forms. A variable font beta is also available, giving access to weight, width and italic axes in a single file.
Classification
A display-only sans with pronounced thick-and-thin stroke contrast drawn from Art Deco lettering traditions. Its extreme contrast, open forms and steep italics place it firmly in the display category rather than a functional grotesque.
