Where Schadow was chaotic and inconsistent across its release history, Gimlet imposes coherence while preserving the source material's essential oddity. Three optical sizes — Display, Text and Micro — each come in four widths from regular to condensed, making the family unusually well-suited to responsive layouts and narrow measures. The italic takes an idiosyncratic route, mixing sloped Roman letterforms with exuberant cursive ones, and stylistic alternates let the user calibrate how far that cursiveness runs.
