DT Straits Sans
Death of Typography · Lee Qiu Wen

A geometric sans built on art-deco construction principles, with condensed capitals drawn from original source material and humanistic stroke endings that soften its rigid geometry.
About
Designed by Lee Qiu Wen and released by Singapore-based collective Death of Typography, the family runs nine weights from Thin to Black. Capitals reference condensed historical source material while missing lowercase characters were reimagined at standard width, creating a deliberate tension between the two cases. Geometric forms are tempered by humanistic terminals, making the family workable at text sizes despite its display sensibility.
Classification
The foundry describes geometric art-deco construction with humanistic endings, placing it firmly in the geometric sans category with an art-deco influence distinguishing it from purely neutral grotesques.
