About
Every letterform is constructed on a square grid using only straight strokes and 45-degree diagonals, translating circular forms into octagons with no curves whatsoever. The concept originated as a design-philosophical experiment: Müller-Lancé tested systematically how reducing a circle to a square, hexagon, or octagon affects legibility at different sizes, settling on the octagon as the most workable solution for average text. The family comes in four styles across Regular and Bold weights with matching italics, and supports 152 languages.
Classification
A monospaced typeface built on a strict octagonal grid with monolinear strokes and no curves, replacing all circular forms with faceted polygonal geometry. The geometric modular construction and fixed-width design place it firmly in the geometric mono category.
