Summa specimen from Delve Fonts

A narrow, elevated-x-height classical roman by Don Sterrenburg, accompanied by a true italic and a visually striking inline variant with swash capitals.

About

Drawn by pen-and-ink master Don Sterrenburg and faithfully digitised by Delve Fonts over several years, Summa pairs bracketed cupped serifs with a narrow width and high x-height for an economical, refined texture. The true italic is a genuine calligraphic adaptation rather than a mechanical slant. The Inline variant restructures the letterforms entirely, with strokes that appear to twist and overlap in a ribbon-like, near three-dimensional effect, augmented by a set of swash capitals for expressive display settings.

Classification

Summa features bracketed, cupped serifs with a narrow width and elevated x-height, placing it firmly in the transitional serif tradition. The true italic and inline variant reinforce its classical roman spirit with a calligraphic sensibility.
