Rollsign Gothic

A tall, narrow display gothic drawn from the hand-lettered rollsigns of pre-digital bus and train signage.
About
The proportions are dictated by the original problem of rollsign lettering: fitting a large amount of text into a tight rectangular space without sacrificing legibility. Seven weights with matching italics give the family range from restrained to commanding, and the retained handcrafted quality keeps it from feeling purely mechanical. Suited to posters, video titles and packaging where vertical compression and visual weight are doing the work.
Classification
A tall, narrow display typeface derived from hand-drawn transit rollsigns, combining utilitarian signage lettering with strong vertical proportions suited to poster and headline use.
