Designed by Alessio D'Ellena, Laica uses chiselled stroke transitions by default to create optical rhythm across text setting, with a stylistic set offering cleaner, straight-jointed alternates for a more restrained tone. Both the proportional and monospaced subfamilies run across five weights from Light to Bold with matching italics. The calligraphic origins give the letterforms an energy that sits between the rigour of a text face and the looseness of hand-drawn type.
