Designed by Seb McLauchlan with spacing and kerning by Igino Marini, Marist takes its cues from two landmarks in Old Style type: Nicolas Jenson's roman, cut in 15th-century Venice for its legibility, and Morris's Golden Type, which reinterpreted Jenson as a rejection of industrial printing. The family runs across six weights from Book to Black, each with a matching italic, plus a variable italic axis. Wide uppercase proportions and prominent serifs give it warmth and readability suited to long-form editorial and book work.
