First drawn in 2021 for the Bikini Books visual identity, Paloma traces its lineage to avant-garde constructivist alphabets by Herbert Bayer, Jan Tschichold and Max Bill, translating their reductive formal logic into a full working type system. Seven weights run from Thin to Ultra with a corresponding variable font, all underpinned by 33,753 kerning pairs courtesy of spacing specialist Igino Marini. Coverage extends to 97 Latin-based languages alongside basic Greek, making it practically broader than its experimental origins might suggest.
Classification
Paloma reduces letterforms to their most elemental geometric constituents — triangle, circle, square — following the constructivist tradition of Bayer and Tschichold. Its highly stylised forms place it firmly in the display category despite covering a broad weight range.
