About

A geometric sans by Martin Vacha first sketched in November 2020 and released February 2021. Eight weights run from Thin to Black with matching italics, sixteen styles total, plus a two-axis variable cut on Weight and Slant. Glyph construction echoes stairway bannisters and railings from the original signage commission. Titling Alternates substitute selected uppercase letters in narrower widths for headline variety.

Classification

Displaay class Avantt under sans / grotesque. Originally drawn as a bespoke face for the Bubenska 1 functionalist building in Prague (Adolf Bens and Josef Kriz, 1927 to 1935), with inspiration from Ladislav Sutnar, Adolf Loos and the Bauhaus.
