displaymodular constructivist grotesk
Coxx specimen from Displaay Type Foundry

A modular constructivist grotesk by Marek Pistora drawn without curves, with a GAPS variant whose stroke gaps open and close on a variable axis.

About

A modular grotesk by Marek Pistora first sketched in 1998 and released through Displaay in September 2025. Seven weights run from Thin to Heavy across two families, fourteen styles total, with a two-axis variable cut on Weight and GAPS. Built entirely without curves, the design started as a poster face for a 2000 Carl Cox gig and matured into a collection of two cuts, a fully filled Coxx and a Coxx GAPS with decorative gaps that open and close on the variable axis.

Classification

Displaay class Coxx under other / round. A modular grotesk built without curves or Beziers. The collection holds two families, Coxx and Coxx GAPS, the GAPS cut keeping decorative gaps inside the strokes. The variable cut controls gap width.
