sans-serifneutral grotesqueitalicmono
Saans specimen from Displaay Type Foundry

A neutral grotesque by Martin Vacha drawn as Displaay's own brand face, deliberately Swiss-leaning and untitled.

About

A neutral grotesque sans by Martin Vacha, first sketched in September 2018 and released in April 2023. The family runs to 18 weights and 36 styles across seven weights with matching italics, plus a three-axis variable font on Weight, Mono and Slant. The brief was internal: a default, untitled face to sit alongside Displaay's retail library without competing with it. The result is a deliberately consistent and moderate Swiss-leaning grotesque. Pairs with Serrif as a sans plus serif default system.

Classification

Displaay describes Saans as a neutral, untitled, default Swiss-leaning grotesque, originally developed for the foundry's own brand to complement rather than compete with the retail library. It sits as the sans-serif counterpart to Serrif.
