Season specimen from Displaay Type Foundry

A sans-to-serif system by Martin Vacha that morphs between grotesque and antique through a continuous variable axis. Hiiibrand 2024 winner in Professional Typography.

About

A serif and sans hybrid system by Martin Vacha, first sketched in May 2022 and released in October 2024. The family runs to 18 weights and 36 styles across seven weights with matching italics, plus a three-axis variable font on Slant, Weight and SERF (the serif axis). The system shares one construction across sans, hybrid and serif stages, with the variable font letting designers stop anywhere in between. Won the Hiiibrand Awards 2024 in Professional Typography.

Classification

Displaay describes Season as a system that explores the transformation between sans and serif in continuous stages. The variable font format extends the in-between cuts. The collection covers a unified construction across both sans and serif worlds plus a hybrid stage that blends the two.
