Serrif
Displaay Type Foundry · Martin Vacha · 2025

A neutral transitional serif by Martin Vacha built as the serif counterpart to Saans, optimised for text but capable at display.
About
A neutral transitional serif by Martin Vacha, first sketched in February 2022 and released in September 2025. The family runs to 42 weights and 84 styles, with a three-axis variable font on Weight, Width and Slant. Construction follows Saans, with vertical stress, lower contrast and thicker serifs to support readability in long-form text. The aesthetic recalls early transitional serifs and later static antiques. Pairs directly with Saans as a default sans plus serif system.
Classification
Displaay describes Serrif as a default, neutral serif following the construction and principles of Saans, optimised for smaller sizes and longer paragraphs but also working at display. Vertical stress, lower contrast and thicker serifs reference early transitional serifs and later static antiques.
