F1.8 specimen from Dot Colon

A monoline sans-serif from Dot Colon built on the principles of mechanical engraving lettering, drawing inspiration from Leica's typographic style.

About

Where its sibling F5.6 applies optical corrections, F1.8 pursues a purely mechanical aesthetic — uniform stroke widths throughout, designed to replicate what machine engraving can produce. The design covers both uppercase and lowercase for general usability, and includes experimental alternates and ligatures accessible via OpenType features in software such as Adobe CC. Released under the SIL Open Font License, allowing modification and redistribution freely.

Classification

F1.8 is a monoline sans-serif designed around the rules of mechanical engraving lettering, producing uniform stroke widths without optical correction — consistent with geometric or technical sans classification.
