Plat Mono
Due Studio · Alessio Pompadura · 2023

A geometric monospaced typeface built on a strict 10-unit grid, with intentional stem collisions in heavier weights that push glyphs towards abstracted shapes.
About
Designed by Alessio Pompadura and released in 2023, Plat Mono runs four weights from Light to Ultrabold, each constructed from monolinear modules where glyph heights, stroke widths and spacing all adhere to a parametric grid. At heavier weights, overlapping stems create deliberate black spots that shift individual letters away from legibility and towards graphic form. Six stylistic sets allow the removal of slab serifs for a more grotesque register, the introduction of circular bowls, or a semi-mono variant with wider capitals, giving the family considerable range across body text and display settings.
Classification
A strictly monospaced typeface built on geometric, monolinear modules within a parametric grid system, with optional slab serifs and circular bowls via stylistic sets.
