About
The upright cuts draw on lapidary letterforms: serifs arrive as knife cuts and the junctions between curves and stems are etched with sharp notches, giving the roman a prehistoric, almost carved quality. The italic breaks from this austerity with softer curves and a pointed-brush rhythm, creating deliberate contrast within a single family. Thirty styles across Display, Text and Small optical sizes make it equally at home in large headlines, body paragraphs and footnotes.
Classification
Auroc's roman features sharp incised serifs with knife-cut stroke terminals and notched joints, placing it firmly in the incised or lapidary serif tradition. The contrasting brush-like italic adds a calligraphic dimension uncommon in purely incised designs.
