Bulk
ECAL Typefaces · Charly Derouault · 2022

A two-cut titling typeface by Charly Derouault that pits a calm classical ductus against sharply angular, hollowed-out letterforms.
About
Designed at ECAL and released in 2022, Bulk takes its conceptual cue from stone and body sculpting, producing two cuts at opposite ends of a spectrum. Bulk Down is static and classically proportioned; Bulk Up is aggressive, with sharp protrusions and carved-out counters. Thin alternates complement the strong primary forms, making both cuts well suited to daring headline work and logotypes.
Classification
Bulk is a titling typeface with two stylistically opposed cuts — one classical and static, one angular and aggressive — placing it firmly in the display category with no conventional text application intended.
