Teta specimen from ECAL Typefaces

A uni-case display typeface by Romain Tronchin, built on rigid letterform construction and irregular contrast drawn from the abstract work of artist Bettina Pousttchi.

About

Designed in 2021 at ECAL, Teta takes its formal cues from Bettina Pousttchi's abstract sculptures and installations, translating their dynamic tension into letterforms through strict construction and uneven stroke contrast. The uni-case approach collapses the distinction between upper and lower case, opening up unconventional typesetting arrangements. Best suited to short-form display work where its structural rigidity and visual tension can be read at larger sizes.

Classification

A uni-case display typeface with irregular contrast and rigid geometric construction, placing it firmly in the experimental display category rather than any conventional serif or sans-serif tradition.
