On a mission to create the world's biggest index of typefaces from the world's best type foundries

displaypixel
Dixplay specimen from Emtype Foundry

A pixel typeface built on a 20px grid, drawing from 1980s video game aesthetics and refined with over 300 manual kerning pairs.

About

Conceived at 20px to allow greater structural freedom, Dixplay sits in an interesting position for a pixel font: it has been given serious typographic attention where most of its peers have none. Over 300 manually fitted kerning pairs are unusually meticulous for the genre, and the result works at screen sizes and their multiples with genuine grid integrity. Two weights, Regular and Black, cover Latin Extended characters including ligatures and a broad range of punctuation.

Classification

A pixel-grid display typeface designed on a 20px foundation, drawing from 8-bit video game aesthetics. Its construction is entirely rooted in pixel/bitmap conventions, placing it firmly in the display category with a pixel subcategory.
