Periódico

Originally commissioned by Spanish daily newspaper ABC, this 30-style family draws on 18th-century Spanish typographic engravings without directly reviving any single model.
About
Built from scratch rather than as a revival, the family takes 18th-century Spanish engraving as a starting point for a distinctive yet functional newspaper face. Thirty styles split across Text and Display subfamilies cover five weights from Light to Bold in Text, and nine weights from Thin to UltraBlack in Display, each with italics. The family has since appeared in editorial contexts ranging from USPS stamps to Wired magazine.
Classification
Designed with reference to 18th-century Spanish typographic engravings, the family shares the high contrast and calligraphic underpinning typical of transitional serifs, split across dedicated text and display optical sizes.
