Originally drafted in the 2010s by David Mamie with input from Nicola Todeschini, ES Allianz draws on early sans serif forms that preceded the polished neutrality of the neo-grotesque tradition. Seven weights from Extralight to Extrabold come with italics, and the character set includes a generous range of alternates such as single-storey 'a', a swing-legged 'R', alternate digits and various symbol sets. The result sits between functional modernism and a more undogmatic, expressive approach to sans serif letterforms.
