ES Face specimen from Extraset

A transitional serif by Alex Dujet with drop terminals as default and an alternative straight set aimed at text composition and titling.

About

Developed from 2016 with commercial word processing in mind, the design draws on 18th-century transitional models while incorporating partially geometric drawing at the terminals. Four OpenType stylistic sets allow switching between drop terminals, straight cuts, an alternate 't' and a classic ampersand, giving the family a wide tonal range across its ten weights. The italic adds a distinct cutting angle through the stems, marking it out from more neutral text serifs.

Classification

The foundry explicitly roots Face in 18th-century transitional serif heritage, with drop terminals as the default and a secondary 'straight' set offering sharper, more contemporary finishes.
