ES Rebond Grotesque specimen from Extraset

A French-Swiss grotesque by Roger Gaillard that balances Germanic neutrality with calligraphic warmth across nine weights and twelve OpenType stylistic sets.

About

Designed over five years by Roger Gaillard, it sits within the grotesque tradition whilst introducing a distinctly French-Swiss character through its curves and stroke connections. Twelve stylistic sets offer alternate forms for characters including 'a', 'g', 'k', 'f', 'Q' and '&', allowing designers to shift the typographic register from classical to more expressive. The extended Latin character set covers Vietnamese and Pinyin alongside broad European language support.

Classification

A contemporary grotesque sans-serif drawing on both Germanic grotesque tradition and French-Swiss typographic sensibility, with calligraphic influences visible in the ductus of certain glyphs.
