F37 Grotesc
F37 Foundry · Anaïs Lievens, Ryan Williamson, Rick Banks · 2021

A quirky display grotesque revived from Pica Sans, with an exaggerated overbite on the C and G and a companion Text cut for body copy.
About
A display grotesque by Anaïs Lievens, Ryan Williamson and Rick Banks, born from a serious case of overbite on Pica Sans, a quirky old grotesque F37 found in a specimen book. They exaggerated the overbite on caps C and G and lowercase c, g and s, and steadied the rest with cues from Breite Grotesk, a late 19th-century German sans. Fourteen styles run across seven weights from Thin to ExtraBold with matching italics. Best for editorial, music and culture work that wants a sans with a smirk; pair with F37 Grotesc Text for body copy.
Classification
F37 describes Grotesc as a quirky grotesque inspired by the wonderful Pica Sans, with a huge overbite on the cap C that almost looks like an O. The rest of the design takes cues from Breite Grotesk, a late 19th-century German sans. Sits in display registers, with F37 Grotesc Text as a more legible text companion.
