Luma specimen from Faire Type

A variable serif family by Maxime Gau and Sabrina Nacmias that spans modest-contrast text to reverse-contrast display via a custom contrast axis.

About

Born from an experiment in reforming monospaced geometry into something proportional and organic, Luma retains rounded serifs as evidence of that origin. A weight axis and a custom contrast axis let the variable font move continuously between Luma Standard, a workable text face with traditional proportions, and Luma Reverse, a reverse-contrast display cut built for large-scale work. A companion sans, Luma Sans, extends the family with eight weights and italics, released a year after the original.

Classification

Luma Standard is a proportional serif with organic rounded serifs and modest contrast, while Luma Reverse flips contrast for display use; the family spans both conventional and reverse contrast designs, united by a variable font axis.
