Elfen-Fraktur specimen from FDI Type Foundry

A 2015 revival of M. Beck's 1919 monolinear fraktur, issued in two versions to accommodate both traditional German orthography and modern multilingual use.

About

Originally designed by M. Beck and published in 1919, this fraktur revival was extended by Ralf Herrmann into two discrete variants: Elfen-Fraktur A retains the original blackletter skeletons for traditional German typesetting, while Elfen-Fraktur B offers modernised letterforms suited to a wider range of languages and contemporary legibility expectations. Both versions include a full Latin 1 character set, and the package includes 22 decorative border elements under the name Elfen-Schmuck. Intended primarily for display work such as logos and headlines, and requires an OpenType-savvy application to access all glyphs and features.

Classification

A monolinear blackletter revival of an early twentieth-century fraktur design; the two variants preserve and modernise the traditional German fraktur skeleton respectively.
