FDI Altmeister
FDI Type Foundry · Ludwig Wagner type foundry, Ralf Herrmann · 2021

A free revival of the 1927 Ludwig Wagner blackletter Deutschmeister, offering both traditional and modernised glyph variants across Western, Central and Eastern European Latin.
About
Originally issued as Deutschmeister by the Ludwig Wagner type foundry in 1927, this revival was carefully redrawn by Ralf Herrmann and funded through Kickstarter before being released under the Open Font License. The family ships in two styles toggling between traditional German blackletter conventions and modernised alternates designed to improve legibility in international contexts. Around 400 glyphs cover Western, Central and Eastern European Latin, and many characters carry OpenType alternates accessible in fully OpenType-aware applications.
