Uno specimen from Feedtype

A stencil display typeface drawn from architectural blueprint lettering, created for a CCA exhibition on modernist urbanism in Casablanca and Chandigarh.

About

Developed for the Canadian Centre for Architecture's exhibition on postcolonial urban planning experiments in Casablanca and Chandigarh, the typeface takes its forms directly from the stencils used on architectural blueprints of that era. The result is a typeface with a distinctly technical, mid-century character that ties its visual language to the subject matter it was made to serve. Its application is best suited to display and exhibition contexts where that utilitarian origin can carry meaning.

Classification

Uno's letterforms are directly derived from stencils used on architectural blueprints, giving it a utilitarian, display character suited to exhibition and editorial contexts rather than continuous text.
