On a mission to create the world's biggest index of typefaces from the world's best type foundries

displaydisplay serifitalic
Mazagan specimen from Feliciano Type

A wide-cut display serif revived from Marocaines, a French early 20th-century type specimen, expanded into eight styles from Medium to Super.

About

Based on Marocaines, an unusual display serif from the French foundry Mayeur originally conceived as a bold companion for Elzevir romans, Mazagan extends that source into a proper working family. Four weights from Medium to Super each have matching italics, giving the family enough range for book jackets, exhibition identities and editorial headlines. The wide proportions and sharp details give it a distinctive personality without resorting to novelty.

Classification

Inspired by Marocaines, an early 20th-century French serif display typeface, Mazagan is a wide-cut, high-contrast display serif developed for use at larger sizes across exhibition and editorial contexts.
