Parafina specimen from Feliciano Type

A geometric display family in six weights with three optical sizes each, inspired by a mid-20th century hand-lettered alphabet by Spanish letterer Miguel Pedraza.

About

Designed by Feliciano Type and released in 2021, Parafina draws on a hand-lettered display alphabet by the Spanish letterer Miguel Pedraza without being a direct revival. The catalyst was Pedraza's work prompting a reconsideration of how a typographic system built on geometric shapes of varied widths could function. Each of the six weights — Thin through Black — comes with three optical sizes, so purchasing a single weight yields all three size-specific cuts.

Classification

Parafina is a display typeface built on geometric shapes of varied widths, inspired by a mid-20th century hand-lettered alphabet. Its optical sizes and geometric construction place it firmly in the display category.
