A wedge-serif family in nine weights, drawn from Roman incised lettering and aimed at corporate, editorial and packaging contexts where a strong individual character is wanted.
About
Inspired by letters carved in stone, Arpona sits somewhere between a serif and a sans-serif, using small wedge serifs to lend it an upright, lapidary quality. Nine weights from Thin to Black each come with matching italics, and 590 glyphs per style cover western, eastern and central European Latin languages alongside four figure sets and various currency symbols. Despite its display character, the foundry notes it remains readable at text sizes on screen.
Classification
Arpona uses small wedge serifs inspired by Roman incised lettering, sitting between a serif and sans-serif in character. The foundry describes it as neither a serif nor a sans but a symbiosis of design concepts, making wedge serif the most accurate subcategory.
