displaywood type / letterpress simulation
Kontiki specimen from Flood Fonts

A display typeface that simulates handmade woodblock printing across four styles, each representing a different degree of print wear and ink degradation.

About

Each of the four styles, Fine, Used, Rancid and Rotten, was produced by physically cutting 193 glyphs into wooden plates and printing them by hand, with the most characterful impressions then digitised. The Pro version consolidates all 2,240 glyphs into a single font file, using contextual alternates to randomise glyph selection and optimised kerning across all style combinations. Language support spans Western, Central and Eastern European Latin scripts, making it broadly useful for multilingual display work with a handcrafted aesthetic.

Classification

Kontiki digitally simulates a handmade woodblock print, with four styles representing varying degrees of print degradation. It is firmly a display typeface designed for decorative and expressive use rather than continuous text.
