FC MAD Sans
Font Club Belgica · Dries Wiewauters · 2017

A sans-serif family rooted in AutoCAD plotter typefaces, built on a strict 45 UPM grid by Dries Wiewauters.
About
Designed by Dries Wiewauters after encountering CAD drawings at Werkplaats Typografie, MAD Sans takes its skeleton forms directly from found AutoCAD material and expands them through Light, Regular, Bold and Black weights with matching italics. A parallel Fill variant adds a second layer to the family, and both versions are available in Standard and Professional OpenType editions. The grid-constrained construction gives it a technical rigidity that reads equally well at small text sizes and large display settings.
Classification
Derived from AutoCAD plotter typefaces and constructed on a strict 45 UPM grid, MAD Sans occupies a niche between geometric sans and technical lettering, with its skeleton forms and grid-obedient construction setting it apart from conventional grotesques.
