Audela
Fontfabric · Léa Bruneau, Plamen Motev · 2022

A sharp-serifed Antiqua family begun as an intern project in 2018 and released in 2022 across seven weights with matching italics and variable fonts.
About
Designed by Léa Bruneau under the mentorship of Fontfabric type director Plamen Motev, Audela takes its name from the French au-delà and aims to push past conventional serif conventions with wedge-shaped serifs and flowing, medium-contrast letterforms. The family spans seven weights from Extralight to Black, each with an italic, plus separate variable Roman and variable Italic fonts. Extended Latin and Cyrillic coverage alongside a full OpenType feature set makes it serviceable for editorial, branding and book cover work across multiple markets.
Classification
The foundry describes Audela as an Antiqua-rooted serif with sharp, wedge-shaped serifs and medium contrast letterforms that bridge traditional Antiqua elegance with contemporary precision, placing it squarely in the transitional serif tradition.
