Auge specimen from Fontfabric

A high-contrast serif with wedge serifs drawn from insect morphology, originally a 2017 graduation project by Nikolay Petroussenko and later developed into an 18-style family by Fontfabric.

About

Begun as a graduation project by Nikolay Petroussenko, Auge takes its formal cues from insect anatomy, translating sharp micro-structural detail into wedge serifs and pronounced stroke contrast. The family spans eight weights from Light to Extrablack with matching italics, plus variable font files for the Roman and Italic axes. Extended Latin and Cyrillic coverage is supported alongside OpenType features including ligatures, oldstyle figures and stylistic alternates, making it workable across editorial, packaging and brand identity contexts.

Classification

Auge features high stroke contrast and distinctive wedge serifs drawn from insect morphology, placing it firmly in the high-contrast display serif category rather than a conventional transitional or didone tradition.
