Brevis specimen from Fontfabric

A single-weight bold display typeface drawing on early uncial letterforms, released by Fontfabric in 2024.

About

Designed by Stefan Yatanski, Brevis takes its name from the Latin for 'short' and derives its forms from early uncial calligraphy, redrawn for a contemporary visual register. A single Regular weight with OpenType features including localized forms and ligatures covers Extended Latin and Cyrillic scripts. Suited to posters, album covers, packaging and headline work where a historically flavoured but unconventional display face is needed.

Classification

Brevis is classified as display, drawing on early uncial letterforms recast as a bold, single-weight display face. Its calligraphic historic roots and unconventional construction place it firmly in decorative display territory rather than blackletter or script.
