Pixer specimen from Fontfabric

A single-weight pixel display font by Nikolay Petroussenko, built from a strict grid of squares in the manner of 1970s arcade game bitmap lettering.

About

Designed in 2020 and offered free by Fontfabric, Pixer draws its structure from the bitmap fonts of early video game hardware, referencing titles like Space Invaders as a touchstone. The all-pixel construction is optimised to read cleanly at both low and high screen resolutions, and OpenType standard ligatures are included. Suited to gaming interfaces, retro-themed branding and digital advertising that calls for an overtly nostalgic register.

Classification

Constructed entirely from square pixels in the tradition of early bitmap fonts, Pixer is firmly a display typeface evoking 1970s arcade game aesthetics rather than any conventional serif or sans-serif classification.
