A single-weight blackletter by Gaetan Baehr pairing textura-style gothic lowercase letters with ornate lombardic capitals, reviving a historical style-mixing convention.
About
The lowercase follows the close-packed vertical strokes of textura gothics familiar from newspaper nameplates and diploma lettering, while the uppercase draws on the decorative swash forms of lombardic initials. The foundry notes the pairing echoes a pre-printing-press convention, where lombardic caps served as uppercase counterparts to gothic minuscules. Best suited to display settings, posters and logotypes rather than running text, and the elaborate caps work particularly well as drop capitals alongside serif body typefaces.
