Clash Grotesk
Fontshare · Indian Type Foundry · 2021

A neo-grotesque sans from Indian Type Foundry distinguished by its unusually tight apertures, available in six weights plus a variable font.
About
Designed by Indian Type Foundry and released on Fontshare in 2021, Clash Grotesk takes a neo-grotesque framework and tightens the apertures to the point where letters such as 'c' appear almost closed. The six static weights from Extralight to Bold are optically monolinear, with a tall x-height, large counterforms and proportional lining figures sitting level with the capitals and ascenders. A companion family, Clash Display, covers larger-size use cases, while this text-oriented family covers 135 Latin-script languages.
Classification
Described explicitly as neo-grotesque in style, with optically monolinear strokes and a double-story 'a', though distinguished by unusually tight apertures that give it a more closed, taut character than typical grotesques.
