Nippo
Fontshare · Indian Type Foundry · 2021

A monolinear display sans drawn from sports jersey lettering, with straightened curves and diagonal joins across five weights plus a variable font.
About
Designed by Indian Type Foundry, Nippo takes its cues from athletics typography, stripping letterforms of most curves in favour of horizontal, vertical and diagonal strokes. Selective stroke thinning on crossbars prevents letters from massing too darkly, while six stylistic sets offer alternates for characters including G, L, M, N, R, T and the numeral 4. The family covers 135 languages and includes a weight-axis variable font.
Classification
Classified as Display by Fontshare; letterforms are derived from sports jersey lettering with monolinear strokes, straightened curves and diagonal joins that push it firmly into display territory rather than conventional geometric sans.
