Plein specimen from Fontshare

A humanist sans serif by Berlin-based designer Inga Plönnigs, offering five weights with italics and variable font support across 135 languages.

About

Drawn with virtually monolinear strokes and open letterforms, Plein is suited to editorial work, branding and signage where legibility is a priority. The upright cuts use double-storey 'a' and 'g', switching to single-storey in the italics, while the default numerals are proportional oldstyle figures with lining figures available via OpenType. Inga Plönnigs, a graduate of the Type & Media programme at KABK in The Hague, designed the family and it debuted on Fontshare in March 2021.

Classification

Described explicitly as a humanist-style sans serif with open, legible forms and virtually monolinear strokes, placing it squarely in the humanist sans tradition.
