Styro
Fontshare · Aarya Purohit · 2021

A modernist stencil family by Aarya Purohit at Indian Type Foundry, drawing on Bauhaus letterform principles across eight weights with a reductionist geometric vocabulary.
About
Designed at Indian Type Foundry, Styro uses thin interior lines to express counterforms and applies simple geometric terminals throughout, recalling Josef Albers' stencil work at the Bauhaus whilst retaining separate upper and lowercase characters. All eight weights are virtually monospaced, with outer stroke thickness increasing progressively from Extralight to Black. The family suits editorial work centred on modern art and design, as well as logos and posters where a stark, condensed presence is needed.
Classification
A modernist stencil display face with heavily condensed, near-monospaced letterforms and a reductionist geometric vocabulary drawing on Bauhaus precedents. Classified as display due to its strong optical character and headline-oriented application.
