Work Sans specimen from Fontshare

An open-source grotesque by Wei Huang, drawn from early foundry grotesques and optimised for on-screen use across nine weights.

About

Loosely referencing Stephenson Blake and Bauerschen Giesserei grotesques, Work Sans is tuned for screen legibility at medium sizes, with simplified features and enlarged diacritic marks suited to digital rendering. The nine static weights span Thin to Black, each with a matching italic, and the family is also available as a variable font. Heavier and lighter cuts lean towards display use, while the middle weights hold up well for body text from 14px upward.

Classification

Described as loosely based on early Grotesques from foundries such as Stephenson Blake and Bauerschen Giesserei, with simplified features optimised for screen rendering across a wide weight range.
